January 1, 2025 marks 16 years of Intersections Consulting (IC)! This is no small achievement given the world we live in and that IC is headed by a Black lesbian Psychologist -- Dr. Darlene A. Hall -- with strong social justice values. IC brings over 30 years professional experience that bridges multiple fields and sectors -- health, social services, Youth Development, teaching and research, nonprofit, philanthropy, and sports/ athletics.
Intersections Consulting (IC) provides Consultation, Training, *Coaching, Technical Assistance, and Facilitation in:
In this current political climate, fear, anger/rage, hopelessness, and powerlessness are strong and appropriate responses. The impacts are real, affecting all 4 levels of oppression: personal, interpersonal, institutional, and structural. Yet, staying in our power, resiliency, and hope is vital. From the personal through structural levels, IC can help. Whether it is supporting the Mental Health needs of staff, strengthening Program Evaluation efforts to secure or maintain funding, building Leadership skills among junior staff, conducting Fundraising efforts aligned with your values, creating a Strategic Plan one year at a time to support sustainability, providing individualized Coaching for frontline or executive staff, or being a Consulting thought partner at the infrastructure level, IC can support you. This is just a sample of how IC can help you and your institution remain strong in these trying times.
*Coaching is NOT psychotherapy. Coaching does NOT provide in-depth assessment, diagnosis, analysis, or treatment of mental disorders. The focus of coaching is specific, concrete, and utilizes tangible, practical strategies to reach identified goals for enhanced performance in personal satisfaction (e.g., finances, life balance), employment (e.g., salary negotiations), or profession (e.g., career change, professional development).
IC uses a systemic, developmental, and strengths-based approach grounded in sociocultural realities and experiences. IC's work is informed by ALL of my experiences: personal, academic, professional, community/volunteer. IC values the knowledge, skills, and wisdom of individuals and communities, including their ability to come up with solutions to their challenges. IC's services are relevant for an array of fields that exist in and cross multiple sectors, including nonprofit, philanthropy, academic, government, and grassroots.
In IC's approach, the services offered are defined as the following:
Consultation: thought partner at infrastructure level
Training: knowledge sharing for skill building
Coaching: tailored tangible, concrete support
Technical Assistance: practical, direct involvement
Facilitation: support conversations among humans
"I am a builder -- not of homes, furniture, electronics, automobiles, or other physical infrastructures one can instantly see and touch -- but a builder of new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving. New ways of moving through the world that will change our society."
